Baby Mia's Bunny and Blossom themed Nursery

After welcoming their long awaited gift, baby Mia, Bon Mella dairy farmers Jan and Jana Coetzee invited photographer Claudia De Nobrega over to capture their daughter's bright and beautiful nursery.  Mother Jana styled her nursery around the gorgeous cherry blossom wall paper that she discovered and incorporated her love of bunnies throughout the room.  I love the fresh and clean feel with just a splash of pink to symbolize a baby girl's oasis. Enjoy stepping into this bright and beautiful, bunny and blossom themed nursery fit for a princess!

DIY: String Easter Basket

With Easter right around the corner, I have been searching for just the right easter basket for "Kenzie". She is almost 5 months old and I know what you're thinking "she's a baby, she doesn't need one".  I'm such a big holiday person and it's in my nature to go a little over board. With that said, I do want something small and simple since she is just a baby.  I just happen to run across this little cutie diy project from interior designer Tara Dennis. I can actually see myself attempting this!  All you need is a balloon, twine, glue, fabric stiffener and scissors! Like I said in my previous diy post, the shorter the list, the better!

Since we are so close to Easter. I'm going to go ahead and post her instructions now and I'll upload my finished product to compare! :)

DIY String Easter Basket
Items you will need:
  • Balloon
  • Brush
  • Liquid fabric stiffener - Tara used Plaid
  • Scissors
  • Strong craft glue or a hot glue gun
  • Natural Sting, Jute is preferred

Step 1:Blow up your balloon and brush on a layer of fabric stiffener. This helps to hold the string in place.

Step 2: Wrap the string around the balloon. Keep going in different directions until the ballon is covered but you can still see through the layers.

Step 3: Liquid fabric stiffener - she used Plaid

Step 3 cont'd: Saturate the string by brushing on plenty of fabric stiffener. Leave this to dry over night.

Step 4: Now for the fun part. Pop the balloon using a pin and carefully remove it from inside your string ball.

Step 5: Using sharp scissors, cut the ball in half.

Step 6:One half will be the basket, the other half can be cut to create a handle.

Step 7:Glue the handle securely to the base.

Step 8:Leave natural & fill with eggs.
May not be durable for toddlers and up, however, perfect prop for baby's 1st easter photo!

DIY: Baby Accessories In A Snap: No-sew Infinity Scarf & Headband

Now that I'm a mom, wearing necklaces are a thing of the past unless I am wearing a teething necklace.  Even though I have spotted a few styles that are very fashion friendly, sometimes I just want to wear a cozy and comfortable piece. If you are not in the mood to wear a statement necklace or a teething toy for your baby, infinity scarves are the perfect replacement.  They are such a hot trend right now and I've noticed more and more babies(boys and girls) wearing them. Seeing babies in them has to be one of the cutest things I've ever seen. Of course I found one for McKenzie on Etsy that is still hanging out in my "shopping cart".  I don't know how this happened but somehow my brain went to a place it's never gone before. As I was crafting another headband for Kenzie out of the hem of an old camisole, I noticed something. If trimmed and twisted just right, the mid-section would make the perfect mini infinity scarf!! I'm sure I'm not the first to think of this, however, I'm so thrilled that my brain came up with a creative idea all on it's very own! Who knew your old camisoles could turn into an array of boho chic accessories for baby! Are you fawning yet?

Well here it goes...my FIRST self inspired diy creation!

No-sew Baby Infinity Scarf and Headband

Step 1: Dig out an old camisole you don't intend to wear anymore
I took this photo after I thought of the idea. Just pretend it's all one piece :)

Step 2: Cut just below the bust line

Step 3: Cut off the front bottom hem
No need to cut all the way around for baby size

Step 4: Roll the middle piece into a circle and wrap the cut-out hem around baby's head and tie.
Might want to trim the scarf a little more so it's not so bulky
You may also have to trim the headband to size

Now Accessorize Your Boho Chic Baby!

{Note: Please do not leave your baby unattended with any jewelry or scarf like products and NEVER lay your baby down for a nap with accessories such as these.}
