Luca's Sailor Themed 1st Birthday Party

Red, white, blue and yellow with an anchor to tie it all together, baby Luca's 1st birthday party definitely made a splash!  At his grandparents house on Lake Conroe, a pool party was just what this little sailor needed to celebrate turning one in the Texas heat! While it may have taken Luca a while to warm up to his very first cake tasting, talented Houston-based photographer Jared McNabb was there to capture the special moment and the cozy clean up with daddy afterwards .

Let's set sail with this adorable nautical themed event perfectly fit for our little Captain! Ahoy Baby Luca!

Hatcher's Eclectic Vintage Gender Neutral Nursery

This week, I featured Shalem Mathew's beautiful maternity photos of delightful couple Brandon and Brenda awaiting their first baby.  What I did not tell you is that they chose to not find out the gender until the big day.  I am always so impressed when parents choose to wait, I don't think I could even if I tried. One reason,  I am waaaaaay too nosey and my anxiety level would be through the roof. Second, I tend to get a little overly obsessed with building baby's wardrobe way before their debut. Although I have to say, there is now a large assortment of the most adorable gender neutral baby clothes as well as amazing gender neutral nursery designs. One of those amazing designs just happens to be this charming space that Brandon and Brenda worked hard to keep as gender neutral as possible. With Brenda, owner and graphic designer at Gracie Beaucoup, she had the most fun putting her talent to work creating a space that would be a sanctuary for either her new baby boy or girl. She enlisted the help of her husband Brandon to build and repurpose several pieces throughout the space which set the stage for, what I'm calling, "Eclectic Vintage Chic".  Many of Brenda's family and friends said that her decor was leaning more towards a boy, however she saw it as a place that she LOVED even from a female perspective. Well now that beautiful baby Hatcher has arrived, it is the perfect setting for their precious boy to thrive. With custom built one of a kind pieces, repurposed vintage furniture and thrift find accents, this nursery had me at "Hello".

I first want to share with you Hatcher's first professional baby photos, captured by the talented Shalem Mathew Photography. As you scroll through this awesomeness, you can get a little peak inside their charming gender neutral nursery.  I've posted more detailed photos below, taken by mommy Brenda. My gift to you this morning is a double dose of  baby eye candy to put that extra pep in your step! ....ENJOY! :)

Hatcher's Adorable Abode

Brenda's favorite piece in the room and my personal favorite has to be baby Hatcher's very own built in baby gate, the BEAUTIFUL dutch door! Brandon built this show stopper from the ground up out of poplar after the suggestion from "Nana Cay Cay" (Brenda's mother). He did such an amazing job, he had me requesting one from my husband, he he! In addition to the door,  Brandon repurposed a tree stump and reconfigured a plug in light fixture for a lamp shade. Is he a handy hubby/daddy or what? After Hatcher was born, his dreamlike nursery became a sanctuary for Brenda.  She said, "I spent every waking moment in there. Even when "H" was napping in his bassinet in another room, Brandon would find me just sitting there, rocking alone with my thoughts." Now you will all see why this nursery is a space that any little boy or girl would be thrilled to call their sanctuary!
