No-Hassle Classroom Valentine Cards For Kids:MINTED Round Up

It's getting close to that time of year where we get to celebrate LOVE on it's own special day - Valentine's Day! I remember when I was younger, Valentine's Day was such a treat! I couldn't wait to decorate my shoe box (usually left over from Christmas) and express my inner artists with cut-out hearts galore and rhinestones that would make you go blind! The best part was opening it up after school and reading all the sweet and loving words from my classmates and the candy...oh the candy! I mean what is there not to love about "LOVE" day?

As a mom with two kiddos now, outings with them can sometimes be a little rough. So if at all possible, we try to do most of our shopping online. With that said, you have no idea how thrilled I was to find out that my all time favorite stationary site, MINTED offers CLASSROOM VALENTINE CARDS!!

Homemade Play-doh Valentine Gift

Hi friends! Are you like me and have a soft spot for adorable homemade gifts? Today I am excited to share a gift that I created for McKenzie to give to her classmates this Valentine's Day.  I wish I could say that I came up with this idea on my own, however, I have to give credit where credit is due. Fellow Mommy Blogger, Chelsea from Buggy and Buddy posted this adorable and easy homemade v-day gift and it was exactly what I was looking for. Something that didn't involve candy yet still held the same level of excitement.

Here is how we made our own homemade play-doh and turned them into the sweetest little valentine's that every kiddo will enjoy!

1. First Gather Your Ingredients For Your Play-doh:
  • 1 Cup Of Flour
  • 1/2 Cup Of Salt
  • 2 tsp Creme of Tartar
  • 1 1/2 T of Vegetable Oil
  • 1 Cup of Water
  • Food Coloring

2. Cook ingredients over medium heat and stir until dough becomes stiff
  • If You choose to use different colors, hold off on the food coloring until your dough becomes stiff. You will then divide your dough into your preferred amount, then knead the coloring into your dough (can be messy but the outcome is worth it)

3. Knead your dough, then divide into your preferred amount of balls. This recipe produced 8 balls.

4. Store in an air tight container (in fridge for longer lasting) until Valentine's Day!

5. Gather Your Gift Wrapping Items:
  • Clear Treat Bags - I found mine at Michaels, here are similar versions
  • Valentine Inspired Cookie Cutter(s) - I found mine at Walmart in the clearance baking aisle.
  • Valentine Tag Label - Free Printable can be found at Skip To My Lou.
  • Homemade Play-doh Recipe Tag - Free Printable can be found here at Buggy and Buddy.
  • Baker's Twine - Can be found at Target

5. Wrap Your Goodies and Your Little Gift Giver will be Valentine's Day Ready!

*** For All Of My Fellow Oily Mommies. You can also knead in 3-5 drops of your favorite essential oil(s). I added Peppermint Essential Oil to a batch that I made to keep here at home. Not only does the aroma smell yummy, peppermint helps to uplift and rejuvenate the senses. Win Win! (make sure to refer to the manufacturer’s instructions to make sure that the particular essential
oil you use is safe for your age child )

Little Levi's First Valentine's Day Photo Session By Sienna Rose Photography

Happy Valentine's Day My Lovelies!! So I am totally posting another Valentine's Day Mini Session from the wonderful Sienna Rose Photography! I couldn't help myself when I saw this little handsome guy posing for his first Valentine's Day Photo. He also just happens to be the son of sweet mommy, Brianna who is standing behind her lens capturing all of his adorableness! This is precious baby Levi and he is definitely not afraid of the camera. This probably isn't the first time that he's had to pose for mommy and I'm sure it won't be the last. He is so used to the clicking of the camera, he eventually drifted off to sleep allowing Brianna to capture the most sweetest photos of the day. From Little Levi and Myself here at Fawn Over Baby. We wish you a Happy Valentine's Day filled with love, hugs and lots of kisses too!

Happy Valentine's Day!

DIY: Glitter Gold "I LOVE YOU" Paper Mache Message

Valentine's Day is fast approaching and I have been scrambling for something unique and fun to give to my husband on this special "love" day. I searched through Pinterest and I stumbled upon a few Baby Valentine photo sessions that are toooo cute and thought that would be a perfect Valentine's Day surprise for him! However, since we are new to the area and are not familiar with any local photographers yet, I decided to do a little crafting and create a simple and sweet Valentine's Day Photo Session At Home. With a little DIY prop and a dolled up McKenzie, our Valentine To Daddy will be the perfect way to let him know that he is loved!

I know Valentine's Day is most commonly associated with the colors Red and Pink, however, I wanted to take a simpler approach and keep it neutral and just add a touch of sparkle! With that in mind, I decided to create an "I Love You" message using paper-mache letters and Gold Glitter Spray Paint! I know, I know-I had no idea that Gold Glitter Spray Paint existed! So exciting, right?

To create your Glitter Gold "I Love You" Paper Mache Message,  below is my simple how-to:

Supplies:

  •  8" Paper Mache Letters & Heart
  • Krylon Glitter Blast: Golden Glow
  • Krylon Glitter Blast: Clear Sealer

  • Instructions:
    • The heart actually came as a heart -shaped box. I just used one lid portion and cut the edges off.
    • Now, just spray your Glitter Blast Golden Glow over entire front surface (You may spray back surface - I didn't as I don't plan on showing it). Let Gold Layer Dry Completely.
    • Next, Spray a layer of Clear Sealer. This helps the Glitter stay in place without flaking off everywhere (which is why my husband is not a huge fan of glitter). Let Dry Completely
    • That's It! You're DIY- Glitter Gold Message is sparkling and ready to display!
These can easily be set-up as Valentine's Day Decor on a shelf or hung up as wall art for the week. I plan on doing just that, now that McKenzie's Valentine photos are ready.

Here are a few that I was able to capture before my little busy body couldn't contain herself anymore and began waving her heart around and biting on the edges. Probably not the safest thing to let her do, however, no harm was done and luckily no glitter was found in her diaper the next morning. ;) ( I allowed her to handle for a only few seconds- perfect amount of time to get a few shots)
