I am so excited to have Jamie From Better With Age guest posting today! A few months back, I was browsing through Pinterest (my daily ritual) and noticed that all of my pins were originating from the same website, Better With Age. Of course, I had to click in and see what all my fuss was about and sure enough I found a sweet gem of a DIY blog that I immediately saved and followed. From Jamie's Home make-over DIYs to her Home and Party Decor Tutorials, Jamie's blog is FILLED with beautiful ways to bring the old back to New. Today Jamie is going to walk us through her beautiful daughter's First Birthday Party decor. You guessed it, Jamie designed and created everything herself with the addition of a few vintage pieces. There are so many DIY goodies, I'll just let Jamie take it from here...
Hi there, I'm Jamie and I blog over at Better With Age. I've been a fan of Fawn Over Baby for quite some time now so it's a complete honor that I get a chance to be featured on Melissa's blog!
My baby girl's 1st birthday party was sooo much fun to plan for! I actually always wanted a baby boy and I got a boy as my first child. I call him Monkey. Enough said. But when my baby girl was born, I think I started planning her birthday party from the day she was born. Okay, maybe a few weeks after she was born. There's nothing better than frilly, pink-y and girly. I'm actually not very girly-girl so I guess it was my chance to let it out! {oh and maybe in the nursery decorating department as well!}
So here are some snippets of my her big day!
I went with a pink and green theme. They are the colors used in her nursery and well, green is the paint color in my dining room so it had to match that too!
I used an old bottle drying rack to display photos of my baby girl. There were the same photos I used on her invitation. Each month I took a photo of her in the same white chair.
Here is a close-up of the photos. Her name and the month is written on the top of each photo {via Picmonkey}. I then printed them out at home on cardstock.
For the favors I stamped a number 1 on each striped bag and added a few toys and chocolate. I folded over the top and used some pink washi tape to keep in place.
I love how they became part of the decor. I had similar striped napkins and stamped a number one on the napkins as well.
I made these adorable pompom flowers. I have a tutorial on my website but basically you make your pompom {I used a pompom maker} then stick some green floral wire into them and you're done! Beautiful pompom flowers!
I also made cupcakes because a cake clearly wasn't enough??
And these party curtains! All in all it was a lot of work but it was so enjoyable
and best of all...
My baby girl had a fun day too!
Hope you're having a frilly, pink day too!
