Silikids: Siliskin Sippy Cup - Product Review + Giveaway!

Hello Monday! I hope everyone had a lovely Mother's Day yesterday and to my fellow mommies, I hope your day was filled with lots of love, joy and pampering! Now that Monday is upon us, I hope your transition back into normal mommy-mode is a smooth one. Today I am sharing a product that may help make your weekly routine run a little smoother all the while giving you piece of mind. 

I have never been one to concentrate much on going green. After having McKenzie, my main concern was making sure that she was happy and healthy, using whatever product she didn't refuse at the time and was the quickest to grab off the shelf.  Now that Kenzie is a year and half and the infancy learning curve has been fulfilled, I find myself shifting from constantly worrying about her infant development stats and milk cosumption to worrying now about keeping her safe from harmful products and feeding ware.  I've only recently heard about mom's using glass bottles instead of plastic and I've grown more interested in safer products after I was introduced to this wonderful environmentally conscious brand Silikids!

Based out of Traverse City,Michigan  Silikids was founded by two moms Stacey Feeley & Giuliana Schwab after growing concerns about the toxic materials used in children's products. Silikids was the first mom-founded brand focused on creating products that are mold & toxin-free, hypoallergenic and made entirely out of silicon. They introduced Siliskin as the first silicone sleeve for glass baby bottles. The Siliskin line has grown and now fits over glass bottles, jars, containers as well as drinking glasses for kids - providing maximum protection, durability and a clean alternative to plastic feeding products.

Silikids was kind enough to send us their 8oz Siliskin Glass Sippy. Complete with an 8oz drinking glass, silicone sleeve and leak-proof sippy lid, this Siliskin Sippy Cup is durable and dishwasher safe.  McKenzie is at the stage where she feels the need to tip, toss or push her sippy cup off of her tray during meal time and I have to say I was a little nervous about her drinking out of a glass knowing that it will most likely end up on the floor after all was said and done. To my delight, when the cup hit our hardwood floor, the protective silicone sleeve held up like a champ and there was no spill! 

The Siliskin Sippy also has textured sides to allow for an easy grip yet soft enough for comfortable handling. I also love the little circle cut-outs to easily see inside the cup. Is it juice or milk? I don't know, take a peek! (sorry I like to talk to myself from time to time)

As you can see from the photo below, the silicone top grips onto the glass while air suction keeps it tight and leak proof! As your child gets the hang of holding onto glassware, Silikids also sells Siliskin Sippy Lid and 6 oz glass sleeves separately.

I am so excited to have found this perfect product that is not only safe for my child but also safe for our environment.  From glassware sleeves to bibs and placemats, Silikids will continue to innovate and launch new products that are non-toxic, safe and durable! As I slowly replace all of McKenzie's feeding products with new silikids items, it's nice to know that after continuous use and wash they will remain sanitary and in great condition unlike most plasticware. "I AM ONE" Tee from Gracie & Hatcher: Review and Giveaway!

Top of The Monday Morning To Ya! Today I am revisiting the fact that my little baby McKenzie is well past her One Year milestone (she's 16 months now :'().  The day after her first birthday, I've tried not to think about how much she's grown since then. Although it is getting harder and harder to be in denial when those tantrums of hers show their face more and more these days. Sheesh, and I thought the first three months of life were tough, this 1 1/2 stage is almost taking the cake.  In addition to McKenzie's wonderful way of expressing her emotions, I am also forced to face her new toddler age when we are out and about and adoring passer byers take notice of her sweet charm (at the moment) and inquire about her age. With a little sad hesitation, I tell them she is one. I guess I'm just never going to get over how quickly my baby is growing up right before my very eyes. These days I'm learning to grow up take a deep breath and enjoy each and every moment of her "one year" status because I know her 2nd year milestone will be here before we know it. I'll probably have my own little secret pitty party that day too. I know, I'm a mess! In all honesty, I do feel truly blessed that she is happy and healthy and progressing right along. I couldn't be more proud and honored that God chose me to be her mommy.

DIY - Paper Mache Alphabet Art & Michael's Gift Card Giveaway!

It's Monday again. I swear it feels like just yesterday I was sending you all off to a wonderful weekend with a beautiful maternity session. Where does the time go? Well, I know where my time went. I spent my weekend working on a fun DIY Wall Art Project for my little one's room. As I mentioned in my "DIY Chalkpaint" tutorial a few weeks ago, I am on a mission to get McKenzie's room up and running with exciting elements to wake up to and play in every day. Poor thing, she wakes up every morning and is met with bare walls and a changing table.  Lately I haven't wanted to touch the walls until I figure out what I plan on doing with them.  I'm sort of over the whole patching and painting process these days. After we moved in and began making our new house a home, I couldn't seem to commit to any of the wall decor that I enlisted my husband to help hang, so ALOT of patching and painting took place. When it came to McKenzie's room, I decided to do nothing until I could make a call and stick with it (fingers crossed). 

The One thing that I am certain of today, is this ADORABLE Alphabet Wall Art that I found over at Crafts Unleashed! As soon as I stumbled upon it on Pinterest, I knew that I had to at least attempt it and add it to Kenzie's room decor list! I love how clean and crisp it looks, not to mention my little one will be met with the Alphabet every morning and afternoon following nap time.  I'm so thankful that McKenzie LOVES her crib. When she wakes up in the morning and from her afternoon naps, she plays for a good length of time and has little chit chats with her stuffed animals that sit at the foot of her crib. Hopefully this will continue and as she gets more and more familiar with her ABCs, she will spend her time looking over at her Alphabet Art and practice away her letters! Well, that's my make-believe mommy vision anyway (wink). 

So I basically followed every step of Vanessa's from Crafts Unleashed.  The only thing I did differently was add a little bit of sparkle to our alphabet display in hopes to coordinate with other decor elements I plan on adding. (Nursery Reveal Coming Soon!) Soooooo with out further ado, here is my shared tutorial on:

How To Create Your Own Paper Mache Alphabet Art

 Supplies:

• 8 inch Paper Mache Letters (except for the letter "O")
• Paper Mache Heart (Edges Trimmed Off)
• Valspar Flat Paint (White)
• High Temp Glue Gun & Glue Sticks
• Saw Tooth Hangers (If you choose to hang)

Optional:

• Krylon Gold Glitter Spray Paint
• Krylon Clear Glitter Sealer

Instructions:

1. Optional - I chose to lay my letters out beforehand and move them around until I was happy with the layout. Be sure to take a photo as a reminder :)

2. Remove barcode sticker then spray paint your letters, except for the "I", "Heart" & "U".  I just sprayed the front of each letter (back is optional as it will not show)

3. Once they are dry, lay them back in your preferred layout. Vanessa left her "I", "Heart" & "U" the natural color they came in. I absolutely love the natural surrounded by all the white. It makes for such a clean finish! 

4.  Although I LOVE the natural look, I decided to add a little bit of sparkle to our "I Heart U" message. This is totally optional and just adds this one extra step. You can find this quick and easy tutorial here.

5. Once All Letters & Heart are dried. Lay them back out to your preferred layout. I chose to hot glue the sides that meet together.

6. Once the hot glue dried, I turned my alphabet over (recruit help or it will be a mess) and began to hot glue the letters together from the backside as well to create more support.

7. (Not Pictured) - I then added two saw hook hangers between the "B" & "C" and "E" & "F". I pushed them in and covered the anchors with hot glue for extra support.

THAT"S IT!!!

 Just hang up and feel free to start singing "A B C D E F G...."

Good Morning Monday! For so long, I've always thought of that song "Just Another Manic Monday" by The Bangles when Monday came around. Now that I'm a stay at home mom, I still whistle that same tune just in a much different light. However, some of those day can turn ugly fast when my little one wants to run wild in the stores.  Anytime we do leave the house though, I always have our diaper bag in tow.  I used to keep it so organized when McKenzie was first born. Now that she's a toddler, I'm lucky to have one diaper floating around in there.

The first thing she goes for is the pretty plastic wipe case that I previously carried her wipes in and boy does it take a beating. Now that it is replaced with my new diaper wallet, it's only a matter of time before this becomes a bang -up toy as well.

With this wonderful baby box, you have a place to store plenty of wipes to get your baby through a few days worth of errand runs. One of the dual access wipe hatches is conveniently located at the top for quick and easy access. I sometimes use wipes for cleaning dirty hands, wiping a table top off at restaurants in addition to diaper changing. So I'm a big fan that you don't have to open the entire box to get to these baby friendly cleaners.

Inside the box, you will find your second wipes hatch for re-filling your wipes and a little bit of room to even carry a disposable bag to wrap those pesky dirty diapers before throwing in the trash. 

The bottom portion allows ample room to store one or two diapers and an adorable coordinating changing mat all contained with a well-planned flexible arm to keep everything in place, yet easy to access.

The changing mat is not only adorably coordinated with your baby box, it is also soft allowing for baby to be comfortable during a change and it is easy to wipe clean when you're on the go!

It might even be wise to have more than one to keep in your car or any secondary location that a diaper changing could possibly take place. I know Daddy's would appreciate carrying this diaper "wallet" as well, rather than a big bulky bag.  I know my husband would at least. (this might just be THE product to get daddy willing to take on diaper duty  more often (wink, wink)
