Southern Chic Tea Party Themed Baby Shower

Happy WednesDay Friends! Oh do I have a treat for you today! For those looking for a fun and fanciful theme for your little princess's upcoming birthday party or to shower an expectant mommy who is preparing for her little princess, today's post is for you!

It's TEA TIME for the lovely mommy Claire, as her family and friends gather to shower her with love, well wishes and everything girly! Staying true to her southern roots, Claire's dear friend, home designer and artist Rylin Crane from Art & Soul- Art & Home Decor Store enlisted the help of close friends to set the stage for a beautiful Rustic Chic Tea Party in honor of baby Layla's soon to be arrival! From the fresh flowers displayed throughout to the gilded vintage tea set's serving as centerpieces and serving stands, this sweet soiree was nothing short of fanciful southern charm. The anchor of the shower's arrangement and my personal favorite was the daintily decorated food table that was filled with an array of tea party delicacies such as scrumptious tarts and scones, adorable bite sized sandwiches and sweet treats abound. This delightful menu added the perfect compliment to the theme and over all sweet spirit of the day. Let's now raise up our pinkies and make a joyous tea time toast to this beautiful mommy and her adorable new bundle of joy, Layla Grace.

If you are in the South Georgia area and are in need of custom/original artwork, hand crafted furniture and/or a unique home design, stop by and visit Art & Soul located in Valdosta, Ga! Feel free to also follow them on Facebook to stay up to date on their latest work and store announcements!

McKenzie's One Year Birthday Celebration By Misty Doyle Photography -Part Two (Cake Smash)

As I promised, here is McKenzie's One Year Birthday Celebration, Part Deaux - THE CAKE SMASH! Part One can be found here, and again, I can not say enough about our Gorgeous vintage Set-Up at Southern Jeweled and the beautiful capture by the talented, Misty Doyle Photography

Before McKenzie had her first taste of cake, she had to make a few phone calls to let everyone know what was about to go down. It was also a wonderful way for us to help her adjust to her new position on the beautiful blanket that Southern Jeweled provided. After she got comfortable with her new surroundings on the floor and her calls were made, her sweet little cake arrived! As she is with everything that is placed in front of her, McKenzie studied the delectable delight in front of her for a few minutes. She then lightly touched and poked, eventually scraping a tiny bit of icing off the top and gently placing it on her tongue. We were all waiting for her to take a nose dive straight through the center!! Nope, not my daughter, she took her time delicately digging and savoring each taste. I'm so glad that she doesn't take after me when it comes dessert time :/

McKenzie's cake tuned out to be so yummy,  a furry little friend decided to join in on the cake tasting too. Little Kitty had her belly laughing with excitement and it made for the sweetest photos. Needless to say, after the kitty nibbled a few bites, we decided that was a wrap and enjoyed watching Kenzie crawl around after her new found friend for the rest of the session.

And That's All Folks!! We couldn't be happier with this beautiful 1st birthday celebration. These photos will be so cherished for years to come! Our McKenzie was ONE happy birthday-girl! :)

McKenzie's One Year Birthday Celebration By Misty Doyle Photography - Part One

YEY!  The day is finally here where I get to share my daughter's 1st Birthday Celebration/Tea Party/Photo Session/Cake Smash all in one! Well, Cake Smash Photos will be shared in our "Part Two" post later this week. On October 25th, 2013, McKenzie turned the Big O-N-E and I decided to write a little "Love Letter" to her in honor of her special day :)  As I said before, as soon as we found out we were having a baby girl, I began my obsession with browsing nursery design inspirations (her actual nursery can be found here).

As we got closer to her one year milestone, I was overwhelmed with excitement at narrowing down the details. As you may already know, my husband serves in the United States Air Force and is currently in the middle of a four month "cross-training" school in Wichita Falls, Texas. While he is in training school, McKenzie and I moved in with my mother in Houston, Texas (about 6 hours away). It was such a blessing and a wonderful way for McKenzie to soak up all the grandma love that she hasn't had since the first week she was born. Since I have so many wonderful friends and family that still live in my hometown,  I decided on a Fun-filled Fall Themed Backyard Bash to celebrate Kenzie's One Year. It was the perfect plan and a great opportunity to get a good family and friends visit in, as well let our kiddos meet and play for the first time.

Everything was coming together nicely and then I get THE call from my husband that changed everything. He called to let me know that he would not be able to come in for the party due to his training schedule. My birthday party fantasy for McKenzie was so close to becoming a reality and in that instant, it became just that , a little make-believe world that this overly excited mommy lived in. As much as I wanted to have this birthday party, I couldn't imagine McKenzie not having her daddy there to sing her "happy birthday" or witness her first taste of birthday cake . There may come a time down the road that he may have to miss due to a deployment or an out of town assignment(mission), so I made it my mission (no pun intended) to  figure out a way for us to be together for her special celebration.

After seeing so many gorgeous one year photo sessions and posting a few birthday party gems here on Fawn Over Baby. I thought to myself, "Why Not Combine The Two And Just Have It Shot In Wichita Falls ?" So myself, my mom and Kenzie took a little weekend road trip to visit Ryan and to celebrate as a family. Beforehand, I relentlessly searched and luckily found AMAZING local photographer, Misty Doyle Photography and the INCREDIBLE vintage rental and event planning company, Southern Jeweled. With the help of these two wonderful ladies as well as a few amazing Etsy Shop owners, The Perfect Birthday Party Was Designed, Set-up and Captured Beautifully! Sooooo, without further ado, here is Part One of McKenzie's One Year Vintage Tea Party Celebration!

I normally add credits at the end of my posts, however today, I have to give a special thanks to the following ladies for helping me realize my vision for McKenzie's re-vamped 1st Birthday Celebration - on very short notice for a few of these lovely miracle workers.
